Project 2- Module 3- Johnson- Social Media

The social media account I chose to takeover is Facebook.

I chose Facebook because I like that pretty much everyone, no matter their age, has a facebook account.

This page has 171 likes when I tookover

Above are the analytics regarding the Oz Health Tech account when I took it over.

Social Media Influencers seem to be ambassadors of all the new and upcoming brands. For example Tarte Cosmetics routinely sends their ambassadors on trips to tropical locations where they shoot pictures wearing the newest makeup releases. Studies have shown that influencers are significant in increasing the sales of the brand that they represent because of increased levels of “trustworthiness, expertise, similarity and attractiveness dimensions that positively affect consumers’ attitude toward an advertisement and a brand.

This blog, Everyday Health posts about common health issues from the insulin pricing crisis to how to loose weight depending on your body type. I like blogs like this because they don’t just post how to “improve your physique”, they also post about current health issues that are facing society today.

Although Primavera Kitchen isn’t a facebook account, I chose to talk about this account because of their recipes. I look on this page almost daily for inspiration. I love to cook, but the same things get old after a while. I love to learn new recipes, especially her “one pan recipes“, they are amazing and the clean up saves so much time. I’ve come to learn that I like quinoa from this blog, and my mom is constantly asking me “what is the name of that website with the recipes?”, she loves it too. Primavera Kitchen also posts recipes for people who are vegan, vegetarian, keto, low-carb, and whole30.

I like this blog because she is unapologetically honest with her followers. She doesn’t just post her “highlight reel”, she posts about real life and her struggles with working out and trying to stay healthy. Her posts are motivational because they are also realistic and relatable.

This article by published on The Guardian that I found through our Social Media Magazine was really interesting to me because I love to learn via youtube. With over half of students being visual learners, I find that youtube videos are a great supplement to in class lectures. I like to watch Crash Course videos on science because of they way they explain things; they are easy to understand, especially with the animations they use.

I believe social media is a blessing and a curse. The power we have in our hands in unbelievable. I am constantly goolging things and using my phone to make my day run smoother. I even use my smart watch to monitor my activity levels throughout the day and to see approximately how many calories I’m burning when I work out. Check out this “>post post did on facebook about wearable technology. However, on the other hand, the power that these phones have can be detrimental. Social media can exacerbate preexisting mental health issues, such a body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and anxiety disorders. Constantly seeing other people’s “highlight reels” can really weigh on someone who has these such preexisting conditions. It is important that we understand the power these phones have in order to “use their power for good”. I really like how the video below depicts the good and the bad aspects of social media.Pros and Cons of Social Media

I enjoyed using buffer as a social media posting tool. I liked that I didn’t have to make sure I was near my laptop in order to post something. This website made scheduling posts easy and efficient.

I also created this post for Facebook using canva.

For this project I took over the Oz Health Tech facebook page. When I first started this page had 171 likes. This page still has 171 likes, but I think this is due to not a lot of young people using facebook anymore. My most loyal liker of posts was actually our HPW Department Chair. I made a total of 7 posts in a 4 day period. The most amount of engagements I received on a post was 17. I think consistency is key when it comes to furthering this or any social media account. People want to see that you are active and posting quality content.

One strategy I used to run this account was the social media posting tool “buffer“. Buffer made it super easy to schedule posts that way I didn’t always have to be online in order to post. I even installed the buffer chrome extension which allowed me to set up a post curation right from the article’s website, rather than have to create the post on the actual buffer website.
